In 1935, Frank Trasco was convicted in Nassau County, New Jersey, of misappropriating $265 of his employer's funds. Trasco's conviction was based largely on the testimony of his coworker, Charles Braun.

Trasco was sentenced to fifteen months in prison. Near the end of Trasco's prison term, Braun admitted that his testimony at Trasco's trial was perjured. On May 19, 1936, Trasco's conviction was reversed and the indictment against him was dismissed.
