On December 6, 1973, Larry Boone and Arthur Cleveland were convicted of murdering a man at a nightclub in the Bronx, New York. According to the prosecution, the victim was shot by Boone and Cleveland inside the club and then Boone and Cleveland walked him outside, where he died. Boone was sentenced to twenty-five years to life in prison.
However, the prosecution had withheld the testimony of two witnesses who stated that the shooting had actually occurred in a different location than the nightclub where it was alleged to have taken place. This was crucial exculpatory evidence that had been suppressed, so the judgments against both Boone and Cleveland were reversed on appeal in 1975. New trials were ordered for Boone and Cleveland, and the case against each of them was then dismissed.
